HaloYKL Privacy Policy

HaloYKL operates as a nationwide peer-to-peer marketplace servicing all provinces and territories across Canada.

When you create an account, we collect your full name, email address, and password. Your full name is used to identify you on receipts, to help buyers and sellers know who they're coordinating with, and to generate the display name shown on reviews you leave (first name and last initial only, for example, "Jordan R."). We also collect basic usage information such as how often you use the Service so we can keep it running well and improve the product.

When you create a listing, we collect the postal code or pickup address you enter. We use this to show buyers the general area of the item and to surface nearby listings across Canada. Your exact address is never shown publicly.

Address search and geocoding are processed by Google Maps Platform under Google's privacy policy. You can change the pickup location on a listing at any time.

When you buy an item, your name and order details are shared with the seller so you can coordinate pickup, and the seller's name and rating are shared with you. Halo does not sell location data or use it for advertising.

If you apply to sell on Halo, we collect your name, email, phone number, and payout details, and we share your name and rating with buyers whose orders you accept. Ratings and comments buyers leave about you are stored and shown as an average score.

We also record the date, version, and place in the app where you accepted our Terms of Service and marketplace terms, so we can show what you agreed to and when.

When you list an item for sale, we collect the listing details you provide (title, description, photos, price, category, condition) and an approximate pickup area, which are shown publicly to other users. We do not display your exact address; specific meetup details are exchanged privately through in-app messaging. Payment information for Marketplace Purchases is processed and stored by Stripe, not by HaloYKL directly. We retain transaction records (item, price, buyer/seller, date) for dispute resolution and legal/tax purposes even after a listing is removed.

HaloYKL is a pure technology facilitation platform and is not a party to any transaction. HaloYKL holds absolute zero liability for the physical condition, mechanical safety, legality, or authenticity of any vehicles, electronics, or goods transacted. Users who intentionally or unintentionally bypass the secure inside-app escrow system to engage in external cash handshakes or e-transfers waive all platform protection layers. HaloYKL holds zero liability or tracking capability for off-platform cash exchanges, and platform support cannot arbitrate, review, or recover funds for off-platform transactions.

To help protect users from off-platform payment scams, HaloYKL uses automated tools to scan Marketplace message content for patterns associated with moving a transaction off-platform (e.g., phone numbers, references to e-transfer or cash). Flagged messages are still delivered, but may be logged for safety and dispute-resolution purposes. This data is not sold or used for advertising.

We track referral links, signups, and qualifying transactions to determine which referral rewards you have earned, such as free listing Boosts, free months of Halo Pro, and Founding Referrer commission-free sales. Billing for paid seller tools (Boost, Halo Pro subscription) is processed by Stripe; we retain only the subscription/boost status needed to provide the feature, not payment details.

If you choose to complete optional ID verification, your ID document and verification result are processed by Stripe Identity. HaloYKL retains only the verification status, not the document itself.

We use your information to:

• Provide and operate the Service
• Process payments through Stripe
• Send you account and transactional emails
• Prevent abuse and enforce our Terms of Service

Payments are handled by Stripe. Authentication and data storage are handled by our hosting and backend providers. Address search, geocoding, and maps are handled by Google Maps Platform. Notification emails are sent through our email provider. These third parties process data under their own privacy policies.

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all data associated with it at any time from Account → Delete account inside the app. Deletion permanently removes your account profile, active watchlists, chat communication records, and posted listings across Canada. This action is instantaneous and cannot be reversed. Active premium memberships must be cancelled prior to executing account deletion. You may also email supporthaloykl@gmail.com to request deletion.

In line with Canadian privacy law, we retain only the transaction, tax, and dispute-resolution records we are legally required to keep after deletion, and those records are no longer linked to an active profile.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can reset your password at any time from the sign-in page or from Account → Reset your password. To exercise any other rights, contact supporthaloykl@gmail.com.

HaloYKL is intended only for users 18 and older, platform-wide. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us with personal information, contact supporthaloykl@gmail.com and we will delete it.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You use HaloYKL at your own risk.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
